Expedition Cabin
« en: Lun, 02 Mayo 2005, 15:28:15, pm »
Wall Construction:
The telescoping construction of the walls creates a robust weatherproof barrier.
The wall elements are made of fibreglass re-enforced plastic; this allows them to achieve excellent firmness and stability.
Trim, 5mm in thickness, is applied to the interior of the wall elements.
This prevents codensation and also acts as insulation.

Furthermore, the interior trim gives the cabin a particularily comfortable ambience.
The wall elements slide into flat rubber seals when they reach their final position, keeping out even gale force winds.
Cabin setup is performed using a hand-operated crank and is completed by the insertion of the door. To see this proccess, check out the setup video in Real Media format.

The stability that is achieved even allows for a photo platform on the roof.
In the raised state, a person weighing up to 100kg (220lbs) can set foot on the cabin roof - something appreciated particularily by photographers.

Roof Construction:
The roof has a sandwich construction consisting of a fibreglass plastic exterior and a PVC plate covering the interior. Glued in between is 2cm (aprox. 3/4") of Styrofoam insulation. This provides a good heat barrier, preventing the cabin from heating up in strong sunshine.

In addition, a large hatch which can be held fast in any position was installed. A sliding screen was integrated into the opening to protect you from mosquitos and other insects. The windows in the walls can be opened for cross ventilation.

Expedition Cabin with aluminum serrated sheet roof
The execution of the roof of the expedition Cabin from serrated sheet is new, in order to get over also most extreme loads at this vehicle. The execution of the expedition Cabin with aluminum roof can be ordered for all vehicles as special equipment.

Floor Segment:
The floor segment is made up of a welded aluminium checkered metal frame into which a aluminium honeycomb plate is glued and riveted.
Depending on use and requirements, cut-outs of various sizes can be made in the floor plate such that a step through opening of about 60 x 75 cm (23.5" x 27.5") is possible in a roof rack instalation.

When installed on pick-ups or trailers, the opening can also encompass almost the entire floor area.
This gives the cabin standing room for daytime use, while a comfortable sleeping area is restored for nighttime through re-insertion of the floor cover.

The new folding soil system is also particularly practical with trailers and Pick-Up's very. On the left and on the right the base plate consists of one folding element each of 25 cm broad and 130 cm length. Between them two inserting soils of 60 cm x 65 cm are put.

When entering these elements are taken out, so that depending upon on-board wall height standing height develops. Now also still the folding soils can be lifted up, so that the accessible range becomes still larger. Under these lateral folding soils also plastic boxes for clothing or equipment can be stowed away.

One of the inserting soils can be implemented as table. The plate is then pushed with the appropriate mounting plate into the stretcher profile one of the folding elements. Then only the table foot put into the admission and finished is the sturdy and practical table.
The checkered sheet metal is thermally insulated with a 1cm (aprox. 2/5") thick high efficiency insulating agent.
Highly recomended is the mattress substructure, available in the accessory program. This vents the mattress from behind and improves the comfort level substantially. Also available is a foil heating mat, allowing usage even in winter or in cooler regions, such as Iceland or Scandinavia. However, a requirement is a nearby electrical socket at the campsite or a small generator.

Mattresses and Curtains:To facilitate an easy removal, the mattress is divided into three pieces. A zipper on each mattress element makes it easy to take off and wash the covers. The curtains can be left hanging in the cabin when it is lowered.
Door:
The door is also a sandwich construction and is inserted into the door frame after the cabin has been raised, locking in at the top. Once inserted, the door can be opened to the side and can be locked with a key. The porthole brings light into the cabin and allows for a view of the exterior.
The Mechanism:
Durability and everyday usability were valued highly in the design of the mechanism.

Electrical Supply and Lighting:
A 12 Volt electrical system in the cabin is standard. Electricity is generally supplied via an external socket on the door side of the cabin.
A light switch and interior socket is mounted in the enclosure for the mechanism. The energy efficient lamp is set apart by a pleasing design and warm light quality. With a consumption of only 520mA, the the light delivers an output equivalent to a 25 Watt lightbulb.
Overall Concept:
The cabin meets our goal of providing a pleasant and comfortable sleeping area for short and long journeys.

Technical Data:
exterior dimensions l x w x h cm
(aprox. in) 220 x 152 x 50
(87 x 60 x 20)
interior dimensions l x w x h cm
(aprox. in) 194 x 132 x 135
(76 x 52 x 53)

Permanent mounting on a Land Rover 110 SW; licensed as a special vehicle/Camper

This vehicle achieved classification as a camper, as it has a sleeping area, a storage space and a folding table. For this reason, the insurance diminishes considerably. The roof is cut at the B- column up to the roof line. Afterwards, the cabin is riveted to the roof plating using a sealing adhesive at the flange area. After that, the original roof gets covered at the side and back with corrugated sheet metal up to the gutter. There is also the possibility of installing a platform so that you can take a photo when the roof is wound up.

The floor of the expedition-cabin gets a cut-out of 170 cm by 110 cm (aprox. 67"x43"). A folding floor section is installed in this cut-out on the right- and left-hand side. During travel, these folding floor sections are raised up and secured by two cross beams.
For sleeping, these floor sections can be pulled down and an additional 3 sections put in between. One enters the sleeping area before putting in the last section. The mattresses are fitted to the dimensions of the sections, so during the trip they can be stowed quite easily

Insulation is achieved by using 2 cm (aprox. 3/4") of Styrodur and PVC for the roof of the cabin. The inner sides of the partitions are insulated by a velour material on top of 4 mm (5/32") foam backing.
Further features in the interior are the tilting windows with curtains as well as the large roof hatch with sliding mosquito screen. The switch for the inner light on the side lining is also very convenient. Moreover, there is a 12 V socket located there.

The cabin is raised in about 2 minutes. Then, all you have to do is put the door into the opening and your comfortable living space is complete.

During the trip the door is efficiently stored in a special holder on the inner side of the rear door.
After having installed your cabin and completed you camper you can still use 5 of your 9 standard seats. With regard to the recognition of your vehicle as a camper by the legislator (at least, by the German legislator), it must clearly be used for living purposes. Thus, the predominant part of the vehicle must be organized and furnished as a living space.

After installation there are still the driver and the passenger seats as well as the seat behind the driver and two seats on the right side at right angles to the driving direction in the rear area of the vehicle.

If you wish, we also mount a solar set on your cabin roof, so that you can produce electricity, or install a fridge in your vehicle.

The seat behind the driver offers itself up to having a Webasto heater installed underneath.

To use the rear seats, it is necessary to have a padded brace positioned during the trip, which simultaneously serves to hold the frame of the folding table. Simply by setting up the frame und putting in a floor section, your practical and functional table is ready for use.

The installation of the cabin - which amounts to an additional weight of about 100 kg 220 lbs) - doesn`t influence your vehicle's all-terrain performance. You can do extreme trips in this vehicle without any difficulties.

Mounting on street trailer

Just put the cabin onto your trailer and your practical mini-camper is finished.
The removable cabin can be placed on a braked or un-braked trailer.
When driving, the trailer generally isn't higher or wider than the tow car such that an increase in fuel consumption is very minmal. Its resistance to side winds and its easy manoeverability when reversing or turning will quickly have you convinced.

Once you've arrived at your destination, the cabin is raised in one minute and can be locked with the door so that you can go on daytrips with your car.
Inside the cabin equiped with the folding floor system, a living space can be created complete with table and seating area. Storage space remains underneath the floor for your luggage.
For sleeping, the folding floor sections are simply closed - a very variable vehicle indeed.

Ramasan

Talk01 ,

talk01

Esas cosas suelen pasar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 saludos foreros > Todo llega
