The air cleaner must be removed to install the snorkel.
That meant removeing the auxillary battery , solenoid, switch, fuse box and windshield washer bottle.
The stock air intake is removed from inside the fender. It's not a bad place for an intake, high inside the fender behind the turnlight.
The Safari Snorkel includes a template to locate the holes.

Drilling the big hole in a perfectly good fender, no turning back now!
Manical Jim, that was waay too much fun! The masking tape and cardboard protected the fender.
Once the big hole is drilled, the holes for the mounting bolts can be drilled.
A step drill makes drilling sheet metal easy.
These holes are very close to the windshield. These holes receive nutserts.
One of the mounting holes is very close to the antenna.
Inside the fender a piece of hose connects the snorkel to the air cleaner. The hose clamps are accessed by removing the turn signal.
All the extra stuff put back into place.
The snorkel fits close to the door post and doesn't restrict vision. It does attract a lot of looks!
